Really good chicken. Not too far away from Downtown on Third Street. I've never ate inside always done carry out. Nice and clean on the inside. I always get chicken, baked beans and potato salad. The service has always been good.

One of my favorite chicken spots in midtown! Everything always tastes so fresh and every dish/side has the best flavors. Great ranch dressing and super nice staff! Love the atmosphere here compared to the westland location!

*updated review!!* our second time here and it's still as great as our first visit last year. crispy juicy fried chicken made hot and fresh to order! this time we tried their fried green tomatoes - tangy sweet and crunchy! served with a side of ranch dipping sauce. we got the half chicken with baked beans, fries (they didn't have slaw) and potatoes salad. looking forward to another delicious bite next time gus' team! **original review below!!!** service is quick and friendly. restaurant is clean and very retro diner feel. fried chicken here is pretty darn good! my only take is the fried chicken and fc sandwhich was not hot and fresh. no big deal - it was still juicy af! handsdown the juciest fc ive ever had!

An eclectic atmosphere with a warm feeling. This is a nice brick building with a chicken motif. I ordered a 2 piece dark Chicken plate with a drink ($16). The chicken was delicious. It was slightly sweet and that offset the spiciness of the fried chicken. The spiciness was not overpowering in any way. It only added to the flavor. It was juicy and cooked perfectly. The plate comes with baked beans and coleslaw and both were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. You order up at the counter and they call your name when it's ready. Overall an easy 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely. I'm not sure the next time I will be in the area, however I may have to make a trip just for this!

Pit stop on our cross-country road trip. Lots of people came in right when they opened for lunch takeout. Just wanted to sample a few things. My sister got fried pickles and potato salad. I got okra and shared a 2 piece with her. The food came out quick and was piping hot. My sister liked the pickles, but the spears were hard to bite apart. The okras were very crispy but was a bit bland. The fried chicken was pretty good. Was well seasoned with a kick. It's not battered fried chicken. It's lightly coated. The director of marketing came out to check on us and talked to us. Everyone was very friendly. Spacious restaurant with cool variety of chairs.

Can't believe we waited this long to dine in at Gus's. It's so cute and unique inside, and the service was friendly and helpful. Seems like they do a lot of carry outs and I see why! I'm admittedly not much of a fried chicken person. I ordered a fried chicken thigh sandwich (not on the menu... seems to be available when they have the supplies) which had mayo and pickles on it. I also got a side of Mac and cheese with that. And a jalapeño! My husband ordered the same, but plain, and with fries. The Mac and cheese was cookout/bbq worthy (so traditional and delicious!). The sandwich was spicy and juicy. I love pickles so I'd probably do extra next time, but they give you a decent amount. The jalapeño was grilled and tasty, the fries looked good, but tasted great! They use peanut oil which really gave everything a solid flavor. We will be back for sure!
